BDSM Novel
A Novel In Its Entirety

Preface:
When the Russian Iron Curtain was drawn back, and more open cultural exchange begun in the 1980s, a strange leather bag of sheepskin scrolls was discovered in the uncatalogued files of an obscure museum in the outskirts of Riga, Latvia.

A translation of the scrolls is provided herein. It purports to be the autobiography of one Cyrus, born in Maracanda (modern Samarkand) in Asia, sometime near the end of the third century before the common era. Known events may be used to place the writing somewhere around the early part of the second century BCE.

A translation of the document has only recently been completed because it is written in a variety of languages and dialects, although evidently in the same hand. Translation of some of the more obscure ancient dialects has slowed the production of a final document, but tended to shed light on the fact that this Cyrus was a skilled scribe to whom the learning of new languages came easily.

If authentic, the scrolls may be of considerable interest to scholars, chronicling as they do a most interesting period of history. During the space of some thirty to fifty years, the building of the Great Wall of China, the final defeat of Carthage by Rome, and the jockeying for position between the Seleucid and Ptolemaic Empires were contemporaneous events. If the book may believed, Cyrus was witness to all of these.

The description of the ancient cities of Tyre, Alexandria and Carthage are in agreement with archeological evidence. The descriptions of Maracanda and Sian (in modern China) are plausible, but less is known of those cities during that time.

The scrolls may also shed some light on the legend of the Amazons. These women warriors are common to ancient mythologies, but rarely explained. Cyrus' description of a disease (probably hemophilia) among the males of the tribe is surprisingly accurate and would offer some explanation for the sexual role reversals. Interestingly, he places the tribe near modern Riga, which would seem to confirm the Greek legend of the tribe's existence somewhere north of the Black Sea.

Colonization of northwestern Russia by the Scandinavian Vikings is well established, and Cyrus' explanation of the cause is logical, if unsupported.

Scholars are warned to approach the book with an open mind. It contains frank and explicit descriptions of the common usage of women during the time. Slavery was everywhere the norm, and trade in female flesh was an economic imperative.

slave

Cyrus was evidently a trader, both an owner of and dealer in slaves, and had in full measure what the ancients called "natural force." Those offended by explicit discussion of sexual behavior would do well to avoid the work.
